What's Your Answer....

My friend Linda hosts What's Your Answer Wednesday every week, and I've been meaning to join in for awhile now. Because it's just fun hearing what everybody has to say to random questions. I think of really awesome questions to ask during the week, but can never remember them when it's time to post.

But let's give it a shot anyway...

1. What is your philosophy on ironing? Do you wait until you have a huge pile and then tackle it all at once? Do you buy as many wrinkle-free clothes as possible, or are you an ironing fanatic? Or (like nobody I know, just saying...ahem) do you figure that as soon as you sit down in the car, the wrinkles will return and no one will know if you spent 20 minutes slaving over it?

2. Which web browser do you use, Internet Explorer or Firefox? Or something else?

3. What is your go-to meal when you are having company and you want to make something a little bit impressive?

Ok, my answers -

1. Ironing - I'm no good at it. I don't really hate it, but I do try to buy as few wrinkle-ish clothes as possible. A few months ago I got out the ironing board and iron, and Savannah started jumping up and down with excitement .... "What's that, Mama? What are you doing? What is it called? "

Isn't that terrible? She was 3 years old and didn't know what an iron was. I was so glad that my neighbor, who is iron-happy to the extreme, wasn't around to witness this debacle. But to my credit, I usually iron when Savannah's in bed, so there.

2. I use both, but usually IE. I know all of you Firefox users just gasped in horror, but change is hard for me. What exactly is the benefit of Firefox again...?

3. I don't have one, which is why I'm asking you. Because I'm having company soon and I don't have any idea what to fix for them. I'm thinking Pioneer Woman's Chicken Scallopine, maybe?

This is such a fun idea!

1. What's that? Seriously, I only iron when I'm making a quilt. How sad is that? John was impressed that I knew how to use one.
2. Firefox.
3. Lasagne just because it serves a lot and I've met very few people who don't like it. Don't know how impressive it is...

This IS fun! OK, so...

1) I think I can count on one thumb how many times I have ironed since I have been married. Which basically means it may have been a ONE time occurrence. I don't really have any clothes that require ironing, and if they do end up having a few wrinkles I throw it in the dryer for a few minutes and call it a day. If hubby has shirts that need ironed...he does it. Which makes me happy.

2) I'm on a Mac, so I use Safari. I used to use Firefox, but I decided to stick with Mac-based software. Safari is cool, anyway.

3) Not exactly impressive by any means, but people always always love Chicken Divan. Have you had it? IT'S GOOOOOD. Holler if you want the recipe :)

1. I don't iron! only if it is absolutely necessary...I have taught all my kids to iron and they do their own.

2. Firefox or safari

3. I am one to go for something new a splashy! my husband used to freak out that I would try something new on company, but after 25 years...he knows it will be okay. If they are fish lovers, I will go that route b/c my kids don't like fish and I have a GREAT recipe I learned in Mexico....if you want it just let me know!

1. Iron...what's that? My hubby is the "iron man" in this house. I've tried to iron his work shirts...and I guess I just don't do that good of a job...although maybe I didn't iron my best just for that reason...

2. Firefox for me...although, I don't really know why!

3. I have a recipe for a pork tenderloin with plum sauce...it's easy and yummy...let me know if you interested in it!

1. I thought you were going to say you iron everything right when it comes out of the dryer. Then we would lose our brain sharing status for sure... :)

I ironed a couple of days ago actually, but it was the first time that I had done such a thing in a VERY long time. I have these cute bermuda shorts that are cuffed on the bottom and that cuff always gets all messed up in the dryer. I can't wear them unless I iron them. So, I begrudgingly pull out the iron because - I like the shorts and want to wear them. And I have to say, when I pulled down our built in ironing board (which so rarely gets pulled down) and plugged in the iron, Jay's eyes got really big and yes - he asked what all of this marvelous amazing equipment was. :)

2. I just switched to Firefox. The change was hard for me, but I will give you one VERY good reason for people such as myself. It checks your spelling ALL THE TIME. Like right now, or on facebook (even chatting on FB) Underlines it red when you make a spelling error. Oh - good stuff! :) I'm not exactly proud of how much I love that feature, but just bein' real.

3. I usually make chicken continental. Delicious and super easy - if not extremely healthy. :) If we are going the grilling route we do kabobs on the grill because they look so neat. :) I have a really yummy recipe for that too.

I iron (on the bed) six minutes before I wear something.

LOVE Firefox.

I make glazed grilled salmon for company dinner. It's a Bobby Flay recipe and it cooks in minutes.

1. I avoid it at all costs. :)

2. I like Macs, but we don't use them because my girls need a PC for schoolwork. So, we've used IE, but after reading the spellcheck feature on Firefox, I may have to re-think that.

3. It's usually Gumbo or Lasagna. I've been known to make bread too. Yummo, but bad for the hips.

1. Does putting them in the dryer for ten minutes count as ironing?

2. I like Firefox the best, but at work, I use Internet Explorer.

hey there! i'm with you on ironing. i think i have ironed twice in five years...both times my girls got baptized...that 60 yr old gown gives me fits, but i'd never feel comfortable leaving it at a cleaners. we buy wrinkle free...wash wrinkle prone things on delicate (put a small load in, but wash it w/large amt of water) and then dry on delicate and remove promptly when still damp. hang right away. i can't tell you how many loads i rewash/redry b/c i forgot and either left them in the washer too long (makes them wrinkle) or didn't get them out of the dryer promptly!

firefox rocks! i usually am not so opinionated about such things, but there really is a difference. mainly in how it stores all of your passwords, and remembers you name, address, etc so filling out forms is a breeze!

i make hearty greek pasta, salad with feta, broiled tomatoes w/pesto, and garlic toast!

1. Wrinkle free clothes here. I will iron a piece when needed. Usually for church. 2. Explorer but I am required to use Firefox for some of my college classes and I dont like it much mainly because its so hard to get use to new stuff. 3. Usually taco salad for company because we are so fancy!

1. I buy as much wrinkle free as I can and only iron on Sunday morning under extream diress.

2. Internet Explorer

3. In the summer Grilled Korean Ribs. In the winter probably Homemade pizza. I don't really do fancy!

Okay let's see...
1) I really, really dislike ironing. I have a bad habit of draping the boys shirts and pants over a chair in our living room and then conveniently ignoring them until my mom comes over and notices the pile and says, "Oh, honey, why didn't you tell me you had so much ironing? I'll just take it home and do it for you."
I know this is so bad, but I just never seem to get to it and it is laid over that chair so neatly!

2)I use both. I have had better luck with firefox lately. IE wants to just tell me it can't display the page.

3)I really stink at this. I am more of a down home cook. Not very good at fancy. It is hard to get some of the fancier ingredients in podunk-ville. But, since your such a good friend I'll just through one out at you that I might try- Three Cheese Stuffed Shells.

Ooh, I like how sneaky you are about getting some recipes off us! GOOD ONE!
1)there are two things in my domestic Godess arsenal I HATE doing. Dishes and ironing. When I met Rob we talked about everything. I, being the rebel, said I don't DO dishes or iron. (Meaning I really would if noone were there to do it for me.) He gladly said "I love ironing and it's only fair that you cook and I do the dishes." SUCKER. I also try to buy non-wrinkley clothes. But yeah Rob love to iron and he's really good at it! Darn if I can get that line in the pants straight!!!!
2)Explorer. I've never heard of foxfire.
3)I got this out of the Kraft magazine. You mix one part Zesty Italian dressing/one part soy sauce. Brown up some good beef.(stew meat can get tough) Add a few TBS of sauce and a clove of garlic(minced) set off to the side. Cook up some spagetti noodles as directed. Saute colored peppers and sugar snap peas in a little sauce or oil. Mix together Beef/veggies/sauce and some cherry or grape tomatoes. I call it Beef noodle stir fry. It's really tasty. I head over to the bread store for some yummy bread too. Never said it was DIET approved though. You can find it on Kraft.com I'm sure.

FUN! I want to play, too!!!

1. I only iron if I have to. And only then it is the outfit that needs to be worn right then. I have never, in my whole life, ironed an entire stack of clothes just for sake of ironing them. Um...no thanks.

2. IE

3. We have to do kid-friendly and man-friendly around these parts, so it is usually steak, baked potatoes, corn on the cob, and salad.

When I had a job that paid cash money, I ironed my and Big's shirts every Sunday whilst watching a Bronco game or some such nonsense. Now, we've switched him to Nordstrom wrinkle free cotton shirts, and I try to run and grab things outta the dryer as fast as I can. Or re-fluff them a million times till I get a chance to fold. Some energy saver I am.

I use IE, but only because it was there. I'm not picky.

And I just finished looking at PW's recipe. Afraid I have drool stains now. Good thing this shirt won't need ironing.

1. I pull things right out of the dryer as much as possible. For the things that don't work like that, I let everything pile and do it once a week or every two weeks, depending on the need. Its almost a treat for me, because I turn on a half hour of HGTV and pay half attention to both things. Its pretty much the only TV I watch

2. I use IE

3. With company I've found lasagna works well with salad and bread. I also have a chicken cordon bleu that always goes over well.

Have fun with your company! BTW, I got the same excited reaction the other day when I had nail polish on my fingers. My girls didn't remember ever seeing me in it but I put it on special for our anniversary. Its such a pointless thing to me because...well, I do dishes everyday and just find the effort vs. reward thing there. It WAS a little embarrassing though.

1. Two words: wrinkle releaser!! I don't think I've pulled the iron out since we moved, almost a year ago.

2. Firefox.

3. If I want something kid friendly, I usually go with cheesy chicken and noodle casserole:

12-16 oz noodles, cooked
2-3 cups chicken breasts, cooked and cubed (amount just depends on how meaty I want it to be and how much chicken I have on hand)
16 oz velveeta cheese, cubed
2 cups milk
2 cans cream of chicken soup

Mix all ingredients in a 12x9 casserole dish, bake at 350* for 30 minutes or until cheese is melted and casserole is heated through.

Yum!

you mean a flat iron....bwhahaha! seriously i hate to iron. i found some sorta spray stuff but since that's out, lately i use a water bottle to help smooth the wrinkles out. would you believe my aunt used to iron my uncle's UNDERSHIRTS?

IE too. hard to break a habit.

it used to be chicken fettucini w/ broccoli. its been a while since i home cooked for someone. take out ALWAYS works though!

thanks for playing girl!

2. firefox

3. Rosemary Garlic chicken with penne. I think it's a Rachael Ray???

1. ironing=UGH! i reserve my ironing board and iron ONLY for sewing projects...in 5 years of marriage i have NEVER ironed a shirt for the hub...we buy wrinkle-free EVERYTHING! :)

2. firefox...'cause IE always freezes for some reason!

3. depends on the season and the gathering...winter and casual=white chicken chili...for sure! summer and casual=bust out the grill...and honestly, we don't usually do much that isn't "casual" these days!
